WASHINGTON, D. C. – Today, the National Bankers Association issued the following statement in response to the recent attacks against Asian Americans.
The National Bankers Association (NBA) stands with its member East West Bank and the East West Bank Foundation of Pasadena, CA, in its work to combat racism and violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Considering last night’s attacks on day spas in the Atlanta metropolitan area and the killing of victims predominantly of Asian ancestry, we are deeply concerned and call on all citizens to stand with our Asian American brothers and sisters.
The East West Bank recently issued a statement about the rash of violence and tragic hate crimes. “When our customers, co-workers, family, friends, and innocent members of our community are being attacked and are the victims of hate, we must stand together and support each other,” stated Dominic Ng, Chairman and CEO of East West Bank.
The NBA denounces all acts of bigotry, discrimination, violence, and systemic racism. The NBA is the leading trade association for the nation’s Minority Depository Institutions (MDIs). Our mission is to create an inclusive financial services industry and a vibrant business environment for minority financial institutions, their customers, and the safety of the communities they serve.
